I (Amps) = (kW × 1000) ÷ (Volts × Power Factor)

Example Calculation
A 7.5 kW electric water heater connected to a 240V single phase supply at PF = 1.0:
I = (7.5 × 1000) ÷ (240 × 1.0) = 7500 ÷ 240 = 31.25 A
Apparent power = 7,500 VA = 7.5 kVA
Apparent power = 7,500 VA = 7.5 kVA
This circuit would need a 40A breaker (31.25A × 1.25 = 39.06A continuous load requirement).
